We are looking at establishing a Home Based Childcare Service and are looking for people interested in being “Educators”.

We are particularly working hard to find foundation Educators in Wainuiomata, but are taking registration of interest from potential Educators across the Wellington region.

You do not have to have a teaching qualification to become a Home Based Educator. Educators own business, contracting their services to Proverbs 22:6 Ltdt/a Kids on foot ECE.

As a licensed Early Childhood Education provider, Kids on foot (KOF) will match Educators with families who would like Home Based Childcare for their children.  KOF would provide training, educational and business advice as well as resources to help you run the most fun, interesting and purposeful programme for the kids in your care.  KOF would also collect WINZ subsidies on your behalf for any children in your care receiving them and pass the subsidies on to the Educator.

Kids on fo.o.t Home Based Education's point of difference:

  • Offering Christian as well as ‘mainstream' programmes
  • Driving ‘inclusive’ based programmes (special needs, for example - all educators to learn sign language, and PD around working with Autistic children)
  • Programmes for teaching children different languages

The Educators set their own hourly rates for the parents to pay.  Because you are running a business from home, there are some tax benefits that we can discuss with you and help you with.

Being an Educator may suit for a season while you are at home looking after your own preschoolers, or children from your wider family.  You do need to have at least one child who is not your own child to qualify for funding/fees.  So you can earn some money while doing what you would be doing anyway on a daily basis - taking care of your kids!  The amount you can earn will depend on how many hours you are ‘open’ for and who signs up with you and the rate you charge - on average Educators charge between $5-$8/child/hour.

You can operate from your own home or a rental.  The home needs to have fenced outdoor area and indoor space of at least 10m2, and be resourced to provide a variety of activities for the kids (which KOF will help with).

We know there are probably lots of questions and further clarification you require - so if you are interested, please complete this form and we will be in touch soon.
